ACT Fees

At the time of registration, students must submit the appropriate fee. The cost of the ACT is $30.00. This includes the score report sent to the student, the student’s high school, and the four colleges selected by the student. The cost of the ACT Plus Writing is $44.50. This includes the score report sent to the student, the student’s high school, and the four colleges selected by the student. The additional fee for the writing test is refundable if the student changes the writing option before the test date or if the student is absent on the test date. The student will only be refunded the cost of the writing test not the cost of the entire ACT.

Score reports are sent to up to four colleges of the candidate’s choosing. These four reports are part of the registration cost. Candidates must select the colleges to receive their score reports during the ACT registration process. Two additional score reports may be sent to colleges of the candidate’s choosing for $8.50 each. Students who request score reports after they have taken the ACT, can be charged between $8.50 and $24.50 per report. Unless otherwise specified, reports are processed within one week of the test date. Candidates who choose to receive priority score reports can be charged between $13.50 and $29.50 per report. Priority reports are processed within one business day of the test date.

Students who are unable to pay the registration fee may be eligible for a fee waiver. In order to be eligible for the fee waiver, a student must be a junior or senior currently attending school in the United States, U.S. territories, Puerto Rico, or Canada. Students must also meet the ACT standard for economic need. The standards for economic need are mailed each fall to high schools. Students should request this form from their high school office or guidance counselor. Additionally, students needing to waive ACT fees may only do so for a total of two times. If a student is granted a fee waiver, but fails to show up to the test, then they will lose that waiver. Only the amount of the ACT registration may be waived. Fees for late registration, changes to test dates or locations, and any other fees will not be waived.

Additional fees are assessed for telephone registration for repeat testers. The fee for this service is $12.00 above the initial registration cost. The fee for late registration is $19.00. Standby testing on the test day is available at U.S and Canadian testing centers for a fee of $39.50 plus the cost of registration. The cost to change a test date or test center is $20.50.
